Wow! Just met a fellow blogger/fellow Gonna-Bee(er) today. Hi Kat! And thanks for your comment! Networking is the way to go! Build a blog and they will come! LOL
We Gonna-Bees are a hardy lot. Most of us write romance and hope to one day be published in one or more various romance houses. Some of us actually have! Congrats to all of you!
Some of my family and most aquaintences scoff when I mention romance novels...they are seen as format trash! Excuse me! Romance is hard to write! Have you ever sat down and tried to write a romance story? Dialogue? Sex? For example...
"Hayden moved ever closer to his quarry, trapping her against the wall of the barn, hands on either side of her face. He was in no hurry.
Rose flushed as his body met hers and teased her senses. "You just can't come in here and treat me like this!"
"Treat you like what?" he whispered softly in her ear.
"Like someone with no morals."
Hayden laughed, a sexy whisper that made her shiver all over. "Morals? Rosie, hon, you won't know what the word means after I get started."
See? It either makes you horny writing it and/or makes you laugh. But it isn't that easy to write. I am not a professional at this time, but I know how you write it is very important. Anyone can write a sex scene, but a bad writer will make it sound choppy and crude and unbelievable. A good writer, a position I aspire to, makes the character's and the reader's bodies shiver in expectation and their skin tingle in ectasy. Here is one of my favorite writing quotes....
"The storyteller who keeps us riveted tells us that the sunset cast a soft, pink light on the mountains or glittered on the lake like so many golden coins."~I.J. SchecterWriter’s Digest, May 2004
So true. Yes, I wrote the scene between Hayden and Rose off the top of my head and to me it has promise. Hmmmmm....I'll have to work on it a bit. The muse is calling.
Dana, hello from a fellow Gonnabee!
ReplyDeleteSo happy I found you!
I absolutely agree with you, romance is not easy to write, and I think many of world masterpieces are entirely or partly romances, though they are not considered as such. And your scene has a promise indeed!
