To Set the Record Straight

OK, this has been bothering me for many years. I have never brought it up before, but I feel the need to tell my side of the story...

Mom, that time in church when you were sitting in the choir section whispering to your neighbor during the sermon, and I was sitting in the front row shushing you because everyone knows you aren't supposed to talk during church, and Daddy took me outside and blistered my butt for making noise during the preacher's hell-fire and brimstone...

Well I resent that. You taught me to be quiet in church and you set a bad example. I was just trying to shush you up so you wouldn't get in trouble and I got in trouble instead. It's all your fault.
