Things have been nuts around here with the end of school coming up and all. Pretty soon we are putting up our pool, but hopefully the weather will get a bit hotter first. It's only in the mid-60's today.
I sent out about six or seven new poems to two different ezines this week. I hope that some of them will be published. As of right now, I have two short stories and one poem due to be published this summer. I am still waiting to hear about some more.
Yesterday, I went on another field trip, this time with Pookie. We went to the Little Red School House Nature Preserve here in Cook county. It has a small museum (an old one-room schoolhouse) dedicated to the Illinois prairie wildlife. We had a scavenger hunt, went hiking, had apicnic, etc... It was lots of fun. But, forgetful Mommy forgot the camera.
The point of my story is: for the first time, I called myself a writer to another person. I didn't just say, "Yeah, I'm writing some stories." When asked what I am going to do with both kids in school next Sept., I responded, "I'm going to write more. I'm a writer."
I felt like I had just graduated from law school and told someone I was a lawyer for the first time. LOL
To be a writer you have to believe you are a writer. I think I am starting to believe that now.
Now if I could just get something published in print and get paid! LOL

"I believe that no matter what you do, no matter how hard you try, you can not baptize cats." - Larry the Cable Guy
A Tennessee man and an Alabama man were both fighting in a war and were captured by the enemy.
"Before we put you to death," said the enemy, "do you have any last requests?"
"Yes," said the Alabaman. "Could you play 'Yeah, Alabama' before you shoot me?"
"Sure," said the enemy. "How about you, Tennessean?"
"Could you shoot me before you play 'Yeah, Alabama?'"
