Today after church we went to Cracker Barrell - my favorite place to eat on Sunday - and had a nice breakfast. I love their sweet tea. Anyway, afterwards the hubby tricked me and drove us over to my in-laws house. Bastard.
Sure enough, their yard - and it is huge - was crawling with cicadas. I just have to say that I only had two sissified moments when the icky bugs flew into my hair and I screamed, but I eventually got off some great shots of the buggers. My dog, Maggie tasted one and then decided that they were really yummy. She must have eaten three dozen live cicadas. I hear that the Brookfield Zoo has been feeding them to the animals since they are high in protein.
And this is my blog... Kudzu, funny family stories, poems, family ghosts, snakes, sun-kissed southern memories all inside! Plus some travel reviews, recipes and more! I also make handcrafted jewelry! Check out my jewelry blog - Colors of the Woods

A Tennessee man and an Alabama man were both fighting in a war and were captured by the enemy.
"Before we put you to death," said the enemy, "do you have any last requests?"
"Yes," said the Alabaman. "Could you play 'Yeah, Alabama' before you shoot me?"
"Sure," said the enemy. "How about you, Tennessean?"
