Hey y'all. I'm sorry I have been away so long, but things are nutty around here. School ended finally and I made the mistake of sleeping in one morning and now my sleep schedule is all out of whack. My energy level is down and I have to get back into shape.
One thing had me on my toes today...saw a snake in the backyard. Y'all know how I loathe snakes, well as soon as my husband said there was a snake in the grass, I looked over and sure enough, there he was...a little garter snake.
A BIG little garter snake. Big enough to chomp on my toes, so off I ran!
I hate snakes!
For those who like funny poems and such, Southern Humorists has my poem, Grandmaw Vs. the Snake up on my page. I do like that poem. It was written about a member of my family, but I won't say who on account that I won't get any of my favorite peanut butter/chocolate balls this Christmas.
Over at Dew on the Kudzu, you can find my new Miss Teensy short story, Just Desserts. It's a tale of adultery, revenge, voodoo and curses. I think you'll like it.
USA Deep South has my poem, Rock Springs, up now. I can't remember if I mentioned it yet or not, but I will again. It is about a place in Apopka, Florida. A beautiful, cold spring that you can tube down and swim in. A great place to cool off in the southern heat.
And my good friend, Cappy Hall Rearick has a new book out - Simply Southern Ease. I have to say that I am very excited to read it as her short stories are heartwarming, funny and downright sentimental. Go order her book today.
I can't think of anything else right now, so y'all have a nice evening and I'll be back with some more stories soon.

"I believe that no matter what you do, no matter how hard you try, you can not baptize cats." - Larry the Cable Guy
A Tennessee man and an Alabama man were both fighting in a war and were captured by the enemy.
"Before we put you to death," said the enemy, "do you have any last requests?"
"Yes," said the Alabaman. "Could you play 'Yeah, Alabama' before you shoot me?"
"Sure," said the enemy. "How about you, Tennessean?"
"Could you shoot me before you play 'Yeah, Alabama?'"
