Winter musings
More snow today. No sun. I really hate these kind of days.

There are all kinds of different people in this world. Some are really into winter sports; skiing, tobogganing, sledding, etc... And then there are people like me who would just prefer to be swimming, lying out in the sun and soaking up the rays, playing in my yard, walking in the woods (but not getting lost this time).

When I first agreed to move here with my soon-to-be husband 11 years ago, I was up for adventure. I was young, didn't know who I was at that time. I was still finding myself. Well, I have found myself and now I want to find myself somewhere else where it is warmer for longer. I swear, if I don't have sunshine, I am depressed all the time. My neighbor has one of those little sunlamp thingies for people with Seasonal Depression and I have tried it. It worked for a while. But it isn't the same as having sunshine flooding your home with warmth, of having the birds singing outside your window. Ohhhhh, I need Spring to get here faster.

I had a little taste of spring the other day. It was actually 60 degrees last weekend, just for one day, but on that day, the birds were out and building nests in my birdhouse, eating the birdseed I put in my new log cabin birdfeeder, and chirping, chirping, chirping. It was wondrous! Then old man Winter came storming back in and ruined it!

My father in Alabama is always watching cable and checking out the Chicago channels so he can know when snow is heading my way. Then he calls me.

"Daaaaannnaaa!"

"What Dad?"

"I ordered you up some more sno-ow!"

"Daddy! I told you not to do that anymore. I don't need anymore snow!"

I can see him right now, doing his little snow dance, calling out to the gods of winter and steering them my way and then laughing his little butt right off. Evil man!

"I believe that no matter what you do, no matter how hard you try, you can not baptize cats." - Larry the Cable Guy

A Tennessee man and an Alabama man were both fighting in a war and were captured by the enemy.
"Before we put you to death," said the enemy, "do you have any last requests?"
"Yes," said the Alabaman. "Could you play 'Yeah, Alabama' before you shoot me?"
"Sure," said the enemy. "How about you, Tennessean?"
"Could you shoot me before you play 'Yeah, Alabama?'"
