Well, this is the 2nd International Weblogger's Day and I wanted to celebrate by telling ya'll how I came to be a blogger.
Before March, I didn't even know what a blog was, never even read one. I have been trying for years to write a romance novel, but was going nowhere with it. My writing group, the GonnaBeez, helped in their own way, but nothing was inspiring me to finish what I had started, so I decided to start a blog.
I have no idea what prompted me to start one. It just popped into my head one afternoon while I was sitting here at my computer. I looked at a few other GonnaBeez blog sites and found one that looked easy and here I am today.
Starting a blog was the best thing that has happened to me in a long time. My writing skills have sharpened, my muse is working more hours a day and I feel more confident of my skills as a writer. I actually have two short stories and a poem being published as we speak. I have definitely made progress in my journey to become an author. And blogging has done that for me. I have learned so much by surfing BlogExplosion or BlogSoldiers and reading other blogs; learned what I don't want my blog to become as well as what I would like to see it become.
So today on International Weblogger's Day, I would like to say thank you to everyone who blogs and wants to share a little bit about yourself with the rest of the world. It takes guts to let people read what you write.
Cheers!
Name: Dana
Location: Chicago, and if y'all call me a Yankee, I'll have to cyber-smack ya'!
I'm just a mom of two, a crafter of jewelry, and to keep my sanity among the Yankees (kidding)I write southern-themed poetry, short stories and memoirs. I have been published on the web on sites such as USA Deep South, Southern Humorists, Muscadine Lines - A Southern Journal, Mosaic Minds and Long Story Short. "I believe that no matter what you do, no matter how hard you try, you can not baptize cats." - Larry the Cable Guy
A Tennessee man and an Alabama man were both fighting in a war and were captured by the enemy.
"Before we put you to death," said the enemy, "do you have any last requests?"
"Yes," said the Alabaman. "Could you play 'Yeah, Alabama' before you shoot me?"
"Sure," said the enemy. "How about you, Tennessean?"
"Could you shoot me before you play 'Yeah, Alabama?'"
