I don't know about you, but to me it seems as if summer is flying by. Pretty soon, it will be Fall and then Winter again up here, and I am NOT looking forward to another winter. Sometimes, I wish we could put time on hold in order to savor it for longer.
On the other hand, the time until my first wine tasting seems to be dragging. Thursday night is my Divine Event, as first tastings are called, and I am nervous that I will forget everything I have learned. I've been making the order folders up and getting my accessories ready. I bought raffle gifts and display items.
Now if I could just remember details about the wine itself. I'm serving five:
2004 Señorio de Garci Grande, Rueda, Spain
2006 Franschhoek Cellar, Paarl Chenin Blanc, South Africa
2005 Henri Eschenbach, Gewurztraminer, Alsace, France
2003 Ignis, Mendoza Malbec, Argentina
2003 Ducato di Nardo, Primitivo del Salento IGT, Italy
Quite a cosmopolitan collection. A step above the white zinfandel I'm used to buying for myself.
In a few weeks, we'll be going on our Smoky Mountains vacation and I can't wait. Mountains, waterfalls, bears, country music....
Ahhhhhhhh!

"I believe that no matter what you do, no matter how hard you try, you can not baptize cats." - Larry the Cable Guy
A Tennessee man and an Alabama man were both fighting in a war and were captured by the enemy.
"Before we put you to death," said the enemy, "do you have any last requests?"
"Yes," said the Alabaman. "Could you play 'Yeah, Alabama' before you shoot me?"
"Sure," said the enemy. "How about you, Tennessean?"
"Could you shoot me before you play 'Yeah, Alabama?'"
