Well, I submitted some of my poetry to Southern Hum e-mag today. Wish me luck.
Also, today I heard from USA Deep South's illustrious Ye Editor that my poem about my deceased dog, Bobo, will be in the USA Deep South Spring issue coming out in a few days. That made my day, I can tell you. When people like my work, it always pleases me.
My Bobo was a good dog. I know - cliche' - but it's true. He was a pure bred miniature American Eskimo Spitz and he loved to go for walks in the woods where I grew up. He roamed those woods daily, with or without us.
He died while I was living away from home after college. I did manage to see him one last time though. I had brought my fiance' home to the farm to meet the family and Bobo decided to go on a walk in the woods with us. My grandmother said that it was very unusual because he was so old and could barely walk at that point, but that dog walked the whole way with us, leading the way like he used to.
Bobo died a couple of days after I left. My grandmother and grandfather buried him at the edge of the woods behind the house and we still visit him when we are there.
I miss that dog.

"I believe that no matter what you do, no matter how hard you try, you can not baptize cats." - Larry the Cable Guy
A Tennessee man and an Alabama man were both fighting in a war and were captured by the enemy.
"Before we put you to death," said the enemy, "do you have any last requests?"
"Yes," said the Alabaman. "Could you play 'Yeah, Alabama' before you shoot me?"
"Sure," said the enemy. "How about you, Tennessean?"
"Could you shoot me before you play 'Yeah, Alabama?'"
