My family has watched Steve Irwin's Crocodile Hunter show for a long time and the boys love it when he tempts fate around dangerous, yet beautiful animals, such as poisonous snakes, crocodiles and the like.
But tempting fate like that usually leads to tragedy. So I wasn't too surprised that he had finally met his match. I mean, personally, I thought the guy was nuts! But, at least he went out doing the thing he loved most of all. How many of us can say the same when the time comes?
I do feel for his wife, Terri, and their children, Bindi and Bob. This has to be hard for them. So, no matter what you think of the man, please remember that he really did care about animals and his death will be hard on those he loved and befriended.
Farewell, Crocodile Hunter. You taught my boys a lot about wild creatures. You will ever be missed.
Way down south where the Aussie’s play,
Beneath the azure sea,
The Crocodile Hunter has passed away
His spirit has broken free.
